Dr. Iyad Al-Attar is a mechanical engineer and air filtration consultant. He provides business and technical consultancies for several international firms in the fields of gas turbine and HVAC. Dr. Al-Attar received his education from Kuwait, Canada, and United Kingdom. He received his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Toronto and his Masters from Kuwait University. His PhD from Loughborough University was concerned with conducting research on advanced air filtration technologies with special emphasis on the physical and chemical characterization of different dusts and the air filter performance operating in different climate conditions. Dr. Al-Attar has become recently active in the field of air pollution in an effort to research its control measures. Dr. Al-Attar is a member of the “IAQ International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate” as well as the Aerosol Society in the United Kingdom. In 2008, the Filtration Journal, which is the official Journal for Filtration Society and the American Filtration and Separation Society, appointed Dr. Al-Attar as an international member of the Editorial board from Kuwait. Dr. Al-Attar is the author of the “Air filtration Series” in the Climate Control (Middle East) Magazine since 2011. He has been published several technical papers, articles and interviews in various international conferences, magazine, and newspapers. Dr. Al-Attar has lectured in many conferences and universities to highlight the importance of the science of air filtration and the underlying parameters affecting the performance of air filters worldwide. Dr. Al-Attar has been recognized by University of Toronto in Canada and Kyung Hee University in South Korea. He has recently received the Editor’s choice Award (2017) from CPI in his articles in the air filtration series (I and II). His area of research involves air quality, air filter performance for HVAC and gas turbine applications.
